Hotwire Communications' Hospitality VP Discusses Future Fiber Optics Infrastructure

Bala Cynwyd, PA. September 21, 2015 - Hotwire Communications, leading provider of fiber optic telecommunications services and provider of services in the hospitality industry, knows what hoteliers want for their guests when they check into a hotel room- for their hotel to provide the bandwidth needed for the guests' devices.

Hotwire's fiber optic Fision® services offer this much-needed amenity to hoteliers. "Fiber to the premise 'future proofs' the property," states Alexandria Richards, Vice President of Sales, Hospitality. "It is unknown in the years to come what the standard of connectivity and bandwidth will be, so we are preparing for that now. We want the fiber optics to last the life of the building."

Richards discusses guest needs and the future of fiber in the latest issue of Hotel Business, noting that fiber to the room could be a prime marketing tactic for properties to target VIPs by offering them ultra-fast high-speed internet connectivity speeds up to 1 gigabit.

Demand for higher levels of bandwidth has increased dramatically over the past couple of years; a concept a lot of people had not yet realized. Fiber to the premises (FTTP) solves this because of how easy it is to scale up. Installing fiber to the premises will keep hotels ahead of the demand. "Hotels need to consider the best ways to increase their bandwidth as data usage and bandwidth demands have been increasing exponentially from year-to-year," she says. "Technology is always evolving."
